HNC

HNC Stands for Higher National Certificate. This is equivalent to the first year of a 3 or four years/honors degree.  

HNC is the Higher Qualification which is provided by BTEC - PEARSON EDEXCEL awarding body. HNC takes 1 year to complete Level 4 Qualification it has 120 ECTS.

This qualification is distance learning which is practical based that makes you a more skilled person than other ordinary degree holders. HNC has 8 Units which depends on your subject all these Units have different credits.

HNC Equivalence to?

Generally, HNC is equivalent to the first year of a BSC Hons degree. So it just has 8 Units in it.

Which Steps in Studies?

In this paragraph, I talk about which steps to include in studies, if anyone completes his/her +2 or Intermediate then he/she has two options as they go as usual everyone goes e.g 3/4 Year Complete degree program or second option is they choose professional or skilled based qualification such as BTEC HNC to pursue their career into practical studies which provide the knowledge and skills both in one platform.

If anyone chooses Skill-based studies at HNC then he must know about his career path in his future which is Starting from HNC then HND and lastly end on Top UP/BSC honors degree in his field.

Higher National Certificate

HNC is not a degree because it's equivalent to the first year of a complete honors degree program.

So if you want to take admission is HNC then you must realize that before these elements and search for it to understand what actually HNC is. HNC is the One year Program.

If anyone chooses HNC then they must choose subjects carefully.

HNC Grading System:

A learner must get:

Get 120 credits at or above the level of the qualification

Get at least 65 credits at Level 4

Complete an effective grouping of units.

• Merit                      (1)
• Distinction             (2)

HNC has this type of Grading System, which is in the list below:

1. Pass

• Pass depends on 0-74 percent of your Points range Grades.
• To pass, you only need to get 60 Credits.

2. Merit

• Merit depends on 75-149 of your Points range Grades.
• If you want merit in your overall grading then you must get five merits in five Units.
• The combination must be 3 passes 5 merits or 2 Distinctions and 1 merit in 8 Units.

3. Distinction

• The distinction depends on the 150 of your Points range Grades.

• If you want Distinction in your overall grading then you must get five Distinctions in five Units.

• The combination must be 3 passes 5 Distinctions or 6 Merits and 2 Distinctions in 8 Units.
